On 12 October 2026 the Church celebrates the Feast Day of Saint Carlo Acutis, a young man whose life speaks powerfully to today's teenagers. Carlo loved sport, valued his friendships, and gave generously of his time to help others – his classmates, people on the streets, and many beyond his own circle. The local clergy, working with Frances McNally, Director for Youth in the Diocese of Dromore, are organising a four-day celebration of his life, and we would be honoured to have your club take part.

We are writing to invite your club to be part of the opening evening of this celebration:

We would love to see as many teenage GAA members as possible there, wearing their club jerseys, as young people from clubs across our local GAA community come together to celebrate Carlo Acutis. This will make a powerful and positive statement about faith, sport, friendship, community and service

We would be grateful if your club could nominate two teenage representatives – one male and one female – to take part in the opening procession at the start of Mass. It promises to be a powerful and positive statement about faith, sport, friendship, community and service, and a great opportunity for our young people to see that these things belong together.

The evening will also include an inspirational talk from a guest speaker sharing her own personal story, and local schools will be joining us too.

If your club can take part, we would be grateful if you could let us know the names of your two nominated representatives, along with a contact number, as soon as possible so we can plan the procession.
