Following reports and concerns raised by a number of supporters and families attending last weekend in Clones, we feel it is important to make contact ahead of the upcoming Ulster Final regarding the issue of underage drinking.

Several parents and supporters highlighted incidents involving young people, some as young as 13 & 14, who were heavily intoxicated before throw-in. These situations were concerning from a welfare and child protection perspective and also unsettling for families attending with younger children.

While we recognise this is not an issue unique to any one county, and is unfortunately something that can occur around major fixtures, we do feel there is a shared responsibility across clubs and counties to address it proactively. Safeguarding young people must remain a priority for everyone involved in our games, in line with the supports and guidance available through the GAA structures.

Gaelic Athletic Association and Ulster GAA are key partners in promoting welfare and safeguarding standards, and we would welcome their continued support in reinforcing messaging ahead of major fixtures.

We would ask parents and guardians to:

* Be aware of where young supporters are travelling and gathering
* Discourage the consumption of alcohol by underage supporters
* Promote responsible behaviour on buses and at venues
* Help ensure match days remain safe, positive and family-friendly experiences for all

We believe a coordinated approach across counties, clubs, and governing bodies can make a meaningful difference in protecting young people and improving the match-day experience for everyone. Thank you for your support on this matter.
